In memory of Gianna, the Memorial Fund has been providing care bags to patients and families who experience the hardship of spending time in Hasbro's PICU. We provide bags that contain a cozy blanket, shower flip flops, personal hygiene items (deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, mouth wash), bottles of water, gum and mints, notepads and pens — just to name a few.
Each year, our friends at Greenwood Elementarychoose an item to collect for the care bags. They use “penny wars” to challenge students and reward classes that donate the most items. This year, Greenwood Elementary contributed deodorant for the bags.
In addition, we received a wonderful surprise donation of $1500 from Navigant Credit Union to fund the bags. Thanks to Navigant, we can purchase larger amounts of supplies in advance, so we are always ready to provide more bags to Hasbro when needed. Recently we dropped off another 10 bags.
We are thankful to Greenwood Elementary for their continued collections and Navigant for helping us fund something that's so very important for patients and families, while honoring Gianna's memory.
