Since age 4, Gianna and Cassie both played soccer for the Warwick Firefighters Soccer Club. Their love for the game began there and they played until they aged out and started playing soccer on the Toll Gate High School team. The Memorial Fund sponsors teams at the Warwick Firefighters Soccer Club, one from each age group, for the fall season to continue honoring Gianna while supporting young children who play soccer. This effort also teaches them about Gianna, her love for the sport, and of course spreads awareness of sepsis.
Tara, board member Jessie Carpenter, and Gianna's Toll Gate Soccer Coach, Lonna Razza recently met with the U6, U8, U10, U12 and U16 teams to tell them how they honor Gianna's memory by wearing the jersey, and thank them for "wearing purple." We gave them each a special GCMF water bottle and a sepsis bookmark.
We thank Warwick Firefighters Soccer Club, the players and the parents for continuing Gianna's legacy and love.
